The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy is responsible for ensuring the supply of energy to the Emirate of
Dubai, overseeing the effective planning of the energy sector, organising the rights and duties of energyservice
providers in enhancing the cost-effectiveness and quality of the services provided to supply
energy, rationalizing the use of energy and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The primary focus of the council is on energy sustainability for the Emirate in line with the rest of the
UAE , the region and the world. Member organizations of the council include Dubai Electricity and Water
Authority (DEWA), Dubai Aluminium Company Ltd. (DUBAL), Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC),
Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP), Dubai Petroleum Corp., Dubai Nuclear Energy Committee and Dubai
Municipality (DM). The Council is chaired by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and HE Saeed Al Tayer,
Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy.
The Council also has a Secretary General and an Advisory Committee from
a competent and specialized workforce. The council has the full support of the Government of Dubai for
the governance of the energy sector. The government also shares the Council’s quest to secure energy for
continuous sustainable development.
Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030
Under the visionary guidance of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President
and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES)
was deployed in 2011 to set the strategic direction of Dubai towards securing sustainable supply of
energy and enhancing demand efficiency of water, power and fuel. The Dubai Supreme Council of
Energy is the governing body tasked with planning and coordinating with concerned authorities and
energy bodies to deliver new energy sources while employing a balanced approach to protecting the
Dubai to be a role model to the world in energy security and efficiency.
